They'll Inherit the Future.
Let Them Design It.
Colorado School of Mines · Golden, CO
One day. One real challenge. All generations at the table.
The Mini L.A.B. is the first full run of Dream Tank's Systems Change method in Golden — one day where youth, Colorado School of Mines students, intergenerational mentors, business, creative, and civic leaders tackle a real challenge that Golden's own cross-sector Systems Change Council identified. At the end of the day, teams pitch their solutions to the community. Your voice in the room helps shape the full summer program in 2027.
This is not a simulation. The ideas developed on August 7 feed directly into the Local Action Blueprint delivered to Mayor Weinberg and Golden city leadership in 2027. Sometimes you need to think like a kid — and pair them with engineers, mentors, and elders who've seen what's possible.

Young people are not observers or advisors — they are co-creators of real civic solutions. Their ideas drive the day.
Mines students bring technical rigor and engineering thinking into real community problem-solving — the kind of civic work that matters beyond the classroom.
Your wisdom + their vision = Golden's future. Serve as a mentor, bring your expertise, and help model what intergenerational leadership looks like.
HEAL · DREAM · BUILD · PITCH
Trauma-informed spaces where young people and adults feel safe, heard, and whole. We begin here because you cannot design the future from overwhelm. Youth start from their own joy and gifts, never from pressure.
Youth explore root causes of Golden's real civic challenge — identified by the Systems Change Council — and envision bold futures, unconstrained by how things have always been done.
Teams prototype real solutions alongside Mines engineers and community mentors. Ideas are stress-tested, refined, and turned into something worth pitching to a city.
5:30–7:00 PM · Free & Open to All. Teams present their Local Action Blueprint concepts to Golden's community. Your questions and input feed directly into the 2027 full program. RSVP for Pitch Night →
Put your mission in the room where the future gets designed.
The community chose the challenge. Founding-level sponsors make the day whole, and join the challenge-framing session with our local partners, where Golden's chosen focus is shaped into the day's design question. Sponsors receive recognition across the day and Pitch Night, mentor seats for their team, and a founding place in the story every future city inherits. Every gift flows directly into the founding day and the full Summer 2027 program. Full sponsorship tiers →

With gratitude to Alex Johnston, the first supporter of the Golden Systems Change L.A.B. — who believed in this program before there was a day to point to.
